Smokin A Briskett Fire 6/26/19
Never Ready For This And What Followed
At approximately 4 PM on 6/26/19 our smoker caught fire and subsequently caught our home on fire. Several SJFD Units responded quickly and put out the fire which was hot,smokey, and that destroyed our home of many years. We relocated to the home I grew up in near the perculation ponds I started training in over 50 years ago. Tight fit for us 4 and the stuff we could salvage. Heater is not working properly but we stay comfortable. Crowded but home is where you make it.
The Wheels of Progress Turn Slowly
One never knows their individual strength or the strength of those in the family until something like this. I am the weak one, the one who takes it hardest, The rest of Team Hurricane without question has risen to the occasion and provided needed support and hard work to deal with every aspect of this terrible ordeal. From back and forth trips consisting of a work party to just pony express the mail. The family is strong. We will survive this. We can replace stuff. Nobody was hurt and our dogs too are safe and well. It has taken me this long to come up for air as the grief and day to day battles dealing with all the entities involved baffles the mind to say the least. What a Cluster _uck. In the future you will see our new digs and kennels. For now enjoy some pictures as we continue to train during these trying days.

The Fire Didn't Beat Us !
I thought I was done with life changing events but this was a wakeup call to never let your guard down and always be prepared. We modified my first kennel and menagerie from my childhood days to a first class 3 hole kennel across the road from technical water and peninsula. 120% of our time is spent dealing with the project as it is in design as of this writing. I am shocked as to the time wasted as after being in the construction industry most of my life and the last 25 as an inspector, investigator, and in the know so to speak, I find it frustrating dealing with all the red tape. Won't even describe the BS one goes through but we are pushing back and keeping ahead of all this mess and the dangerous world we live in.
